Our aim is to teach this art in a cooperative, non-violent way, so that the children have the opportunity to participate in singing, playing musical instruments and learning the basic movements.
Capoeira allows small children to remember movements they used quite naturally as toddlers, such as squatting, crawling and moving on all fours. The songs and musical instruments help to stimulate the children’s curiosity in Brazilian Folklore.
Omri "Ferradura" Breda teaches Capoeira at The British School since 1996. He studied at Escola de Capoeira de Angola do Mestre Marrom, specializing in capoeira for children. He also graduated in Pedagogy from Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), with specialization in Primary Education. He has developed a teaching method called Brincadeira de Angola which is currently applied in a great number of schools.
