Judo is a martial art with educational aims. In Judo lessons, the pupils develop both social and physical skills. They are able to reflect on areas they need to improve, learn to respect others and appreciate the differences that exist between individuals, enabling them to participate in a structured and caring society.
Due to the high demand for this activity, priority will be given to the children who took part in it last term. There is often a waiting list and any new vacancy is treated on a first come, first served basis.
As a son of the Judo teacher Hélcio Gama, Paulo André Gama has experienced the Judo philosophy since very young. He chose to follow his father's profession not only because he admired the art but also because he identified himself with the "Gentle Way" philosophy, especially when related to children.
He graduated in Physical Education and Administration. Since 1996, he coordinates Judo at The British School and Piraquê, where he is also responsible for the summer camp.
"I am very proud to work with children and to take part in their development. It is wonderful to be able to contribute to their self-esteem and self-confidence!"
